A Garden Full of Character

Some of our favorite gardens are the ones that tell a story, and this little backyard garden is full of them.

Designed for a grandmother who wants her grandchildren right alongside her in the garden, this space was an opportunity to create something truly personal. She had spent years collecting treasures from salvage shops throughout New Orleans — old shutters, fencing, metal accents, and all sorts of unexpected odds and ends. We knew those pieces deserved a place to shine.

We paired them with cedar raised beds finished with charming rounded ball finials, vintage-inspired metal details, and a cattle panel trellis that works hard through every season. Sugar snap peas climb it in the winter, followed by cherry tomatoes and pole beans through the summer.

Even in a shadier backyard, we found a way to make a garden that feels abundant, inviting, and full of personality.
