Meet Your Gardeners

We Didn’t All Start Out Knowing How to Garden.

In fact, one of my favorite things to hear during a consultation is, “I didn’t know how to garden before I started gardening!” And that’s exactly the point. You don’t have to know everything before you get started.

Each of us came to gardening in our own way, at different stages of life, and for different reasons. We’ve made plenty of mistakes, learned a whole lot along the way, and figured out what works.

Now, we get to share that knowledge with you.

Emily Grohovsky

Founder and Lead Garden Consultant

Emily is a mama to two boys, former NICU nurse and lactation consultant and self-taught gardener. Her dream is that everyone can simply grow food in their backyard without it being overwhelming or frustrating or time-consuming.  She hopes you use all of her best tips and tricks and learn from her own mistakes along the way to put you on a fast-track to garden goals!  Don't tell her you have a "black thumb" because she will consider that a challenge to prove you wrong!

Her motto is "Green thumbs aren't natural; they are learned."

Say hello to Lauren, our “everything girl!” She keeps Cedar Hill Gardens running smoothly, overseeing email marketing, newsletters, membership communications, copy editing, order fulfillment, and day-to-day operations. You may connect with her when booking a consultation, emailing us, or on social media!

A wife and mom of two girls, Lauren discovered gardening during COVID as a hobby with her husband. After 13 years as a stay-at-home mom, her love for homegrown food and marketing degree brought her to the Cedar Hill Gardens team.

Lauren Pearce

Garden Consultant

Lauren is a wife, mom, and Pediatric Nurse Practitioner from the Jackson area who started raised bed gardening in her backyard in Chattanooga, Tennessee. After relocating back home to be closer to family and friends, Lauren started gardening in new raised beds in her front yard. She has a passion for starting seeds indoors and raising baby plants until they are ready to move outside to the garden. She loves cooking with fresh produce out of her garden and encouraging healthy food habits with her family. Guiding gardeners to becoming successful in their own garden journey is one of her favorite things about being a garden consultant.  She and Emily were Brownie Scouts in elementary school together who reconnected years later over a love of gardening and the rest is history!

Carla Jenkins

Garden Consultant

I have always enjoyed gardening from the time of being a little girl with my grandmother helping her in her garden. Now it’s therapy-time to unwind, pray, think and listen to music as I do something that has been part of our lives since the beginning of creation. It’s just a sweet time for me to see God at work.

Carla Glaze

Garden Consultant

I love gardening because it is about so much more than growing plants. It is about creating a place of beauty, abundance and gratitude. I look forward each day to see what is happening in my garden and what pollinators are there bringing the garden to life. It is very rewarding to be able to harvest fresh vegetables to prepare for my family. My garden is a place I can slow down and appreciate the simple things. My favorite things to grow are tomatoes because you just can't find good ones in the store anymore!

Come Garden With Us

Gardening is even more fun when you have people to share it with. The Cedar Hill Gardens Club brings garden lovers together for field trips, hands-on learning, garden visits, a private Facebook group, and lessons with Emily and the team.
